In July, many residents of the United States will be eligible to receive new stimulus checks, but to receive these monthly payments of up to $500, households must first meet qualifying conditions specific to the state that will deliver the benefits. After the COVID-19 pandemic caused a massive financial crisis and many low-income households struggled with rising inflation and limited access to health care, the federal government released Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) to help millions of Americans recover.
Despite this, they ran out of gas before many people could get back on their feet. Recognizing these challenges, local and state governments have responded to help their citizens by providing longer-term assistance rather than a one-time payment. These stimulus payments are designed to help low-income households cope with healthcare costs and excessive inflation. Some incentives are based on budget surpluses, while others are based on past tax returns or income.
